We need your donation to build our vision of a virtual shared office space for SAIBA members, and a skills development centre for unemployed graduates.
We will use donations to review Metaverse platforms, choose the best platform, buy land and build virtual offices. Virtual offices will be managed as shared offices where members can meet clients, host events, and network with other members. We need virtual offices to train and develop 1000s of trainees to work in SAIBA practices.
All members that donate to our building fund will have first choice of renting virtual office space and gain access to a world of new clients.
SAIBA will consider platforms such as Decentraland to build its virtual city. Decentraland is a decentralized virtual reality platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Within the Decentraland platform, users can create, experience, and monetize their content and applications.
The finite, traversable, 3D virtual space within Decentraland is called LAND, a non-fungible digital asset maintained in an Ethereum smart contract. These parcels are permanently owned by members of the community and are purchased using MANA, Decentraland’s cryptocurrency token. SAIBA needs land to build its virtual training offices and provide a shared office space for SAIBA members.
Metaverse platforms such as Decentraland converts money into crypto tokens. We need tokens to buy virtual land. MANA is Decentraland’s fungible, ERC20 cryptocurrency token. In Decentraland terminology. LAND like CryptoKitties and CryptoPunks, is a non-fungible digital asset. To ensure that the value of LAND parcels remains stable, the amount of land in Decentraland corresponds to the fixed, total amount of MANA. Without LAND scarcity, many parcels would likely be left abandoned, negatively impacting the quality of content in Decentraland and the user experience.
Land owners are free to decide whether they will charge other players to access their content and how much they will charge. Decentraland is not involved in the monetization of content and does not guarantee any return, profit or income to SAIBA or it donors. The success of the platform depends entirely on the efforts of the users.
Once SAIBA owns land in the Metaverse we will develop the land into office blocks and training centres. This will be used to give access to SAIBA members to virtual offices and to provide skills training to unemployed graduates.
In January 2022, Prager Metis International LLC, a New York-based accounting and advisory firm, opened a virtual three-storey property on a site it bought for almost $35,000. The firm, which operates globally, made its purchase on the Decentraland platform in partnership with Banquet LLC, a firm that manages blockchain ventures.
It’s the first time a CPA has officially opened an “in-game” branch, bringing real-world financial services to businesses and individuals trading in the metaverse.
PwC Hong Kong became the first member of an internationally recognised professional services network to publicly buy virtual land on The Sandbox. William Gee, Partner at PwC Hong Kong, stated: “The metaverse offers new possibilities for organisations to create value through innovative business models, as well as introducing new ways to engage with their customers and communities.”
